The Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research takes very seriously its responsibility to assure the quality of all higher education opportunities available to students in the United Arab Emirates. This responsibility now extends to e-learning and distance learning programs and opportunities.
The new e-Learning/Distance Learning Standards for Licensure and Accreditation extends the process of accreditation and quality assurance to include the latest technologies and forms of distance delivery of higher education programs. In establishing these Standards, the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research looks forward to the opportunity for students in the United Arab Emirates to earn credits and degrees through the equivalent level of quality as have been established for more traditional forms of instruction.
Through fair and universal application of these standards, the United Arab Emirates ensures that its colleges and universities deliver instructional programs that match internationally recognized standards of content and quality, now through e-learning and distance learning, as well as in more traditional forms.
The e-Learning/Distance Learning Standards for Licensure and Accreditation is accompanied by the e-Learning Standards Guidebook. This guidebook provides a description of the steps required in the development, delivery, evaluation, and improvement of e-Learning programs and courses to ensure that they meet or exceed quality standards.
The two publications together comprise a significant and innovative effort to document the quality components of effective e-Learning and distance learning and to support higher education institutions in the United Arab Emirates in delivering the highest quality programs. |
